The Night Owls Roost

Hello my friends! I'm very sorry for going M.I.A again, but I should be able to post a little more often now, however, my posts might be fairly short for a while, while I try to add items to my new Etsy store, TheNightOwlsRoost.

Yes, I finally took the plunge, and opened an Etsy shop. For years people have been telling me I should sell the items I make (Mainly small crocheted stuffed animals), but I was always too afraid that my creations weren't good enough, or the patterns I used would say something about not selling finished products made from that pattern. I'm still struggling to believe that the things I make would be desirable to anyone other than myself, but that's more about my own insecurities regarding my self worth than anything else… I'm getting help for that though (maybe I'll talk about those struggles in a future post).

Anyway, I seem to have lost my train of thought now, I just wanted to post this little update before I go to bed.

All is not Well

Hello again, I think my last, non-Avon, post was the one about my goals for the first quarter of 2016; since then, everything has just gone to shit for me.

I won't go into a lot of detail, now, but for those of you that don't know much about me, I have acute anxiety and depression, for which I am getting treatment, but a culmination of stressful events, constantly catching colds, grief/sadness/really missing people I've lost over the years, (FYI, if anyone ever tells you you should be over the death of a loved one, by a certain amount of time, or that you are keeping your loved one from resting in peace, by feeling grief/sadness or even crying because you miss them, don't listen!) has recently led to a very bad spiral.

The smallest things seem to be blown way out of proportion in my head lately, and of course I don't feel like there is anyone around me that I can properly confide in, without being told, in a round about way, that I feel the way I feel because I want to feel this way. Why in the hell would I want to feel like this? Why would anyone want to feel like this?

I'm probably not making any sense right now, so I'll end this here, before someone offers me some cheese to go with my whine.

Restaurant Recommendation

For Christmas, my grandma and myself received a few gift cards for restaurants, one of which happened to be Cracker Barrel. Neither of us had ever been to a Cracker Barrel Store/Restaurant before, so we decided to check it out.

Now, I had looked at the menu online before hand, because I know how particular my grandma can be about restaurants, and I thought it looked like a place she would like, so off we went.

It's actually a cute little novelty/gift shop type of store, with a cute little country style restaurant attached to it (let me tell you, I could probably spend hours in that little store and then leave without a penny left in my pocket).

When we got there, it was lunchtime, and there were quite a few people, but it wasn't at capacity. Still, it's not a huge place, so it's kind of close quarters, and I admit, I was starting to feel a bit anxious.

Anyway, the service was better than anywhere we've been so far. We weren't ready to order right away, so the waitress gave us more time, as they do, but didn't leave us waiting forever before she returned.

I was still feeling anxious, as there were still lots of people moving around the tight spaces between tables, but then our food came, and with one tiny bite, I was fully distracted, it was that good. Honestly, the best restaurant food I have tasted in a long time.

The waitress checked on us several times, to see if we needed anything, and it was just an all around pleasant, refreshing experience… once I got passed the annoying anxious feeling I'd had earlier.

I would highly recommend visiting a Cracker Barrel if you have one in your area, and if you are ever in the area, might I suggest the one at 350 W 120th Ave, Northglenn, CO 80234?

Happy New Year + Quarterly Goals

Hello Friends! Happy New Year!

In this new year, I very much want to be a more productive member of society. So I'm going to set some goals for myself, on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.

This post is one of my goals for today, but for now, I'm just going to talk about the goals I'm setting myself for the first three months of 2016.

1. Find a daily schedule that works for me, and stick to it.
2. Do something outside my comfort zone. Nothing crazy, just something like attending one of the parties/gatherings in the leasing office, for residents of the apartment complex where I live.
   
3. Get back on track with my eating habits.
   
4. Find ways to promote my Avon business, without being a pushy sales person (couldn't be one of those even if I wanted to be, which I don't).
   
5. Go for a walk around the neighborhood more often.
   

I think I'll leave it at that for now, though I'm sure there's a lot more I could add to this list.
